Ways To Practice Sustainable Gifting This Holiday Season
Want to lower your carbon footprint this holiday season? Here are some easy and practical ways to practice sustainable gifting.
Consider Secondhand (& Vintage) Finds
Finding secondhand treasures can be a fun and easy way to gift in a more sustainable way. Not only does this give an item another life, it also supports re-use rather than supporting the waste associated with the creation process of a new item. Plus, you can often find unique and high-quality finds when shopping secondhand!
Shop And Support Local
Shopping locally can help reduce carbon emissions in several ways. Not only are you reducing your own travel emissions, by traveling a shorter distance (&/or skipping shipping), but local businesses are also more likely to choose local, which means the products aren't traveling a far distance either!
Create Your Own Gifting Goods
Creating your own gifts can be a great way to give in a personal and unique way. This practice can also be a more sustainable choice. When you make your own gifts, you get to control the process. Which means you can choose to shop locally, choose more environmentally friendly materials, and more!
For example, here are some super cute and festive secondhand tins, that can be filled with baked goods or other handmade creations.
Gift Sustainable Goods
Of course, you can also gift sustainable items! Personally, I love recommending these food wraps that we have in-store.
They’re so handy (I use mine all the time) and there are lots of fun designs to choose from. I've also found that they're great gifts for those that “don’t need anything”, because they most likely don’t have them and they’re super usable!
